Papakura’s Red Hill Primary School will benefit from nearly all its buildings being replaced in a $10 million redevelopment, says local MP Hon Judith Collins.

“I was happy to be at the school today for Minister Nikki Kaye’s announcement.  The redevelopment of virtually the whole school will be great for the kids, and very welcome news for the teaching staff I’m sure,” Hon Judith Collins said.

“The school has had problems with leaky buildings, and most of the existing buildings have reached the end of their economic life.

“The redevelopment will provide students and teachers with 10 new learning spaces to take advantage of, all with high standards of acoustics, lighting, heating and ventilation.  They will also be kitted out with the latest IT infrastructure to support digital learning.

“At the same time, a new administration block, library, and resource room will be built, and the children’s play areas and the school carpark will also be upgraded.

“The project includes establishing a satellite unit of Rosehill School with special education teaching spaces and break-out and support areas.

“This project will be good for the local school community and its families.

“I’m proud to be part of a Government which is investing into our children’s educational futures to give them their best chance to learn and succeed,” Hon Judith Collins said.

The redevelopment will be phased to minimise disruption, and seven transportable classrooms will be located on-site during the project.  Construction will start mid-2017 and the project is due to be completed in 2018.
